az khudhee thoo dhoor gashathaa choon khudhaa

We have been driven farther away from the Almighty due to our egos;

dUr ku`n ^ud-bInI E bIN by-iZlw& ] 48 ] 2 ]

dhoor kun khudha-beenee ou been bae-ghilaaf || 48 || 2 ||

Therefore, get rid of your vanity; do not be driven by the whims of your mind, then you can see clearly the Reality, the Beneficient. (48) (2)

aashikaan dhaarandh choon eishak mudhaama

The real lovers (of God) are always imbued in His love,

dham mazan dhar paesh shaa ai maradh laaf || 48 || 3 ||

O you bragger! Do not boast before them about love and devotion. (48) (3)

ibguzr Az l`ziq eIN ^msw hvws

biguzar az lazath een khamasaa havaasa

You should give up the sensual pleasures of all the five sense organs,

thaa bayaabee bazathae az jaam saaf || 48 || 4 ||

So that you could really taste the savor of a clean glass of holy elixir. (48) (4)

gar bajoee raahi murashadh raa mudhaam

Goyaa says, We should always be seeking and on the look out for the path of our Satguru,

thaa shavee goyaa mubaraa az khilaaf || 48 || 5 ||

So that, by traversing in the opposite direction, we may not lose our way; we can be redeemed from (the sin of) double-mindedness and dilemma. (48) (5)
